    Default Iafpd

OK, Chief(trustee)reason, we'll meet at the IAFPD convention. I've never been there, but had every intention of going last year until my mother got sick. This year some of us will have another "reason" to go - get it?
This is the thread for planning the trip.

    Default Sounds like a plan.

In all likelihood, I will go down on Thursday. That's usually the day that the Trustee Panels kick off. I need to look at the program more closely. I believe that there is a golf outing of some sort. I will either participate in that or play a round at the Rail Golf Course before the week end is up.
I don't have a clue as to who is the keynote speaker at this year's conference. Last year, it was John Norman, FDNY. Who knows; maybe this year it will be Joe Albaugh.
Anyway, it will be here before you know it.

If youse guys don't mind, I'd like to invite myself to your group.

I haven't been down in a long time (think it was in Peoria last time I was there. That's got to be 5-7 years ago). So, now I have an excuse to go.....

    Default Peoria?

    Jay:
The more the merrier. The owner of Alexis Fire is a good friend of mine. If First Strike is there, I'll introduce you to Kirk Allen. Big Ed Orlin could be there with Genesis Rescue Systems. We could have a good time. Jaehne will most likely be there. Dave Clark and Terry Sutphen will probably have the IFSI booth. Ginny Davis will no doubt be there. And of course, our wonderful reps from the Chief's Association will be there for us. Moffitt, Smith and other legislators could show up, although it will be break for them.
I will absolutely hook you guys up if you need it. I didn't go last year due to a conflict in schedule, but I am pumped for this year.
So how are we going to recognize each other? The name badges are so small. We'll figure that out.

Talking I'll be the one in the white shirt!!

Actually, everyone on this department has a white shirt....

Anyways, I'm thinking maybe it would be easiest if we agree to meet at a certain place and a certain time (lobby at 0900 or Bombay Bicycle club at 1700) or sompin like that?

Or, better yet, how 'bout Deja Vu any time!?!?!

I plan on coming for a day or two. That's about all I'll be able to get away for. Got a while to figure out the schedule and where to meet, etc. I don't play golf, never have, probably never will so let's not put that silly game in the plans.
Let's not wear white shirts and ties. Somebody may confuse all of us for lawyers.

    Thumbs up

I hope to be able to go-if the trustees cover my expenses.

    Jack,
Maybe we could take our fishing poles instead. I always figured that if you had time to golf you had time to fish. And besides, I never have figured how to cook a golf ball.

Cap, I hate to tell you this, but I don't fish, either. Give me a piece of wood and a planer, a table saw and a router and I'll make you just about anything. Woodworking is my hobby. Kind of funny, got a twin brother that fishes and golfs both. He doesn't like the fire department.
Maybe it'll be your month to have TRUSTEEReason when you give them a bill for your expenses. He'd pay them. If nothing else, come down for a day and we can get together then.

    Chief Reason,

First Strike will have a booth set-up down at Springfield this year, and Kirk will be there. Look forward to seeing everyone.

Hasn't been much activity on this thread in while, so I thought I'd bump it (plus CR's got some strange thing about getting our total post count up. Whatever. )

So, where are we going to meet? Has anyone got room reservations yet? Where's the best place to stay? When are we going to Deja Vu?

Default Got the new Fire Call?

    Jay:
This fixation with Deja Vu is scaring me a little. In the latest edition of Fire Call; the official publication of the Illinois Association of Fire Protection Districts, they have a little bit on what's what with the conference. There is a golf outing and trapshoot on Thursday. Anyone interested? I plan on playing golf. Jack, you and pcfd can go to Lake Springfield and fish, if you'd like.
Is everyone going to stay on site?
And yes, I'd like to see the post count up. Home state pride. But I don't want to see WT lock one down, like they did in Connecticut. In fact, they shut two down and permanently removed someone!
Play nice and set a good example for the states who have NEVER posted in their state threads.

    Default Not really an obsession.....

Chief, it's not really an obsession with Deja Vu, it's more of an obsession with....uh, let's say, the employees there. And it's just a joke, for cry-eye!

Wow! A thread locked down and people kicked out. Sheesh.

I haven't touched a club in over a year. And I was pretty lousy then. How good of a golfer are you? More importantly, how PATIENT of a golfer are you?

I'll get this thread back to the top where it needs to be now. Like I said, I'll be coming, but don't know for sure when. If Friday is when everybody else can make it, I can be there in the afternoon on Friday and Saturday. I can probably only stay 2 days so I'd be leaving late Saturday afternoon. It's only about 2 1/2 hours, but I'd like to be home reasonably early. How does this sound to anybody else?

    Default June 19, 20, 21, 22!

    mfd:
    Springfield conference is June 19, 20, 21, and 22.
I will be there Thurs. and Fri. If I can't get a room, I will go on Fri. only. For those of you who haven't checked, the Renaissance and the Hilton are attached to the Prairie Convention Center. Rooms are $92 and $96 a night. If you mention the conference, you get a reduced rate, but I don't know what it is yet.
There are several good hotels, though. Hopefully, they won't be booked.

    Default It's confirmed!

I will be going down on Thursday for the Trustee's Panel, but will return home afterwards. I will return to Springfield on Friday for more and will go to the IAFPD annual meeting at 4:45 pm. I have every intention of getting involved at the state level.
Anyone from around here who wants to go either day can hook a ride with me.
Jay; what days are you going to be there?

Unfortuntely I won't be able to go again this year. I have meetings on 2 of the days and, now that I'm back to work, I have round trip transfers with the ambulance service on the other 2 days

Alright, I'll sneak away for Friday, if youse guys are going to force me (there's too much going on here on Saturday. Gee, I never thought I'd say that: there's SOMETHING going on in Hinckley!?!!?!?!?).

I'm looking pretty similar to 80 & Jay (God help me for saying the latter). Somebody that knows the place pick a time and place to meet. I think CR needs to stand in the hall someplace with a sign that says "IACOJ Illinois Delegation".
