Default This British are coming... the British are coming...

Well... maybe the British aren't coming... but I do know who is... WCB!!!!

Rumour has it that they'll be here sometime in March. For those of us south of the board, a visit from WCB is sorta like getting a visit from an ISO inspector with an attitude and a ticket book! (for those of you in my department, you didn’t hear it from me.. but I would recommend that ya’ll make sure that your paperwork is in order).

Anyway, on that note, I am looking a basic outline for monthly PPE inspections. Anyone out there have one, or know what is on yours? If so, I would like to know.

    Wink Is that an invitation??

Thought we had already been over to that part of the world 26!!

We will be getting a visit from Her Majestys Inspectorate of Fire Services in the next few months...makes me pleased not to be a "white hat", seems to throw them into a blind panic.

We do a PPE check on the first week of each month, basically just a visual inspection of helmet, gloves, flash-hood, boots, jacket & pants, for any wear tear and damage. Obviously we are looking for tears and holes, scrapes and abrasions are'nt a problem.

All our gear is "asset tracked", and everyone has an individual ID number on their gear, so if somthing has been "borrowed" from someone else, 'cos theirs is bust, we will know and be able to rectify it. This also shows that everyone has the gear they were issued with and it should be in good order.

We don't neccesarily keep a written record, as if some needs gear replacing it is done almost immediately and the broken equipment disposed of.

Hope this helps, now I'm off to pack a trunk!

Sorry about that Martin, I didn't mean to get you all warmed up... errr... I mean, confused with the thread title

Anyway, a visual inspection is good, but they want a peace of paper with check marks on it (they love paperwork). I am going to put something together... at least we all have a bit of notice this time around....!

    Bit of paper with:

    1. Helmet - Excluding head therein.
    2. Jacket - with sleeves for arms.
    3. Overpants - With extensions for two legs.
    4. Boots - With only one hole.
    5. Gloves - Five Fingers.
    6. Misc Pockets - One hole at the top only.

    Should keep them happy.
