    Default Basic FF - FF1

I was just wondering is there a difference between the two. I know the hours required are the same but is a FF1 more advanced.

Depends on where you come from--

In my state (NC) we have a FF1 and a FF2 designation. There is about 100 hours difference between them but they are taught simultaneously.

The very "basic" firefighter certification in the state of Arkansas is only 28-32 hours of training. It includes basic fire dynamics, an introduction to protective equipment and an overview of wildland firefighting. On the other hand, FFI is 72 hours and FFII is 132 (plus Haz-Mat Ops and Awareness).
