Emergency Response Teams
We have a dispatch center with about 50 dispatchers total. Of course everyone is subject to callback but- years ago we initiated a volunteer group called "Dispatch Emergency Response Team". This team is not designed to augment regular staffing, but rather to respond when something happens such as we have to move out of the comm ctr and go to the remote/back up comm ctr. Or if the Emergency Operations Center is opened up and a lot of help is needed quickly.
Sometimes it would even be for remote dispatching such as large police or fire incidents. IDT (incident dispatch teams) are out there, and we are moving that way... but this is perhaps one notch down from that.
Although our guidelines have served us well, I wonder what other centers might have? I would be glad to get more detailed if anyone likes.

If your simply calling in people to return to the center if it's too busy for current staffing we just call people in. That's the plan.
But there are many 911 agencies that have response teams that respond to the scenes of incidents for incident command communications. But that's a whole other issue.
