Nfpa 1975

Our Dept is currently in negotiations to change our uniforms. At present our uniforms are 65% polyester, we are trying to get the city to comply with the NFPA standard on station uniforms. My question is How many Depts presently comply with 1975. Do you use a portion of it? Is it a reference point when purchasing uniforms or do you just accept whatever the employer provides for you?

We are currently required to wear NFPA compliant station wear while on duty. We are wearing Nomex IIIA pants and have the option of FFR or 100% cotton shirts. Out employer does not provide them for us, but instead gives us an annual clothing allowance. We have to purchase them on our own and they are inspected annually by the shift commander to determine if they need replacing.
