Looking to here of experiences of paid fire deptartments that went to an engine/rescue fro a seperate heavy rig. Especially those making around 10k-12k runs a year.

We only run 3K a year but would like to give some input. We have equipped all our pumper with some rescue equipment. We have a spreader, cutter and rams on every engine. If needed we can call for the Rescue for heavier work. It's worked well because we can handle more calls than if we didn't have the equipment. It has been usefule when returning from a run or if the rescue is out of service for maintenance. Our engines aren't packed full of crap but they are versitile and can get something done prior to the arrival of more equipment.
