At 1638 CST, Maumelle Engine 1 & Truck 1 responded to a report of a working structure fire at 725 Trevino Drive. Upon arrival, units found fire showing through the roof of a two-story wood construction home.
The fire originated in one of the home's chimneys and spread into the attic space above the second floor. Shortly after the first unit's arrival, the involved chimney collapsed onto a single-level attached garage. Chief 501 requested assistance from North Little Rock and Little Rock Fire Departments. NLR Engine 4 and Little Rock Engines 12 & 16 and Battalion 6 responded.
With fire in the attic space above the house and in the garage area, three 1.75" and a single 2.5" line were pulled.
Oak Grove Engine 3 was dispatched to fill in at Maumelle's station and Oak Grove Rescue 1 responded to the scene with their cascade unit.
At 1705, an ambulance from Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services was requested for an injured firefighter. The firefighter was transported to an area hospital where he was treated & released with minor injuries. A second firefighter was later transported to an area hospital via department vehicle to be examined after a fall. The second firefighter was treated and released also.
At 1753, Chief 501 reported that the progress of the fire had been stopped. The fire in the main portion of the house was declared out at 1810 with fire damage contained to the attic. Several pockets of fire remained in the garage area, where firefighters encountered a great deal of debris that hindered their attack. A backhoe from Public Works was special called to the scene to assist in clearing the debris. The fire was declared out and overhaul was complete in the main portion of the home at 1005.
