    Unhappy LCES Mentor Passed On

Word is now circulating through the "e" world of wildland firefighters that Paul Gleason has passed on from a fight with cancer. Those of you who use and trust the wildland fire acronym LCES, know that Paul coined that verbal turn as a way to mitigate our information and checklist overload when on the fireline. Paul emulated diligence and fire savy at the highest professional level and intelligently articulated his logic and concerns to everyone who would listen. He seldom strayed from the professional exercise of examining ideas, and staying true to the fundamentals he knew that kept him and his crew safe. We are sad to lose him, but take comfort his efforts and words will endure in spite of what we do in the future. js

I am thinking we have to few heros in this business, so it would be good to be generous with that title for Paul. Thanks.
