Late Winter Ice storm put Winston Salem's Bravest to work and then some. Over 200,000 without power in WS and Forsyth County. Thursdat crews anserwed numerous calls throughout ther 24hr tour. Most companies responded to anywhere from 10 to 35 runs each on Thursday. Calls ranged from downed Live power lines to trees down. I know of at least a dozen structure fires, on had two fatlities. Trk 4 extricated a subject from his vehicle. A large tree fell and trapped the man in his vehicle. A captain was struck by a motorist while on a call. He was taken to Wake Forest Medical Center and was kept overnight for observation. Only know injury was a bruised liver. At one point on Thursday ther were 40 plus alarms pending to be dispatched. Power is still out throughout the city and numerous companies are operating on generators. Plt Two on duty on Fri and ran ther buts off day and night, today is Saturday and stiil alot of power outages and calls are still very active. Great JOB by all the Brothers of the Winston Salem Fire and Rescue.
