    Default City of Portland

    Hi all-
    Anyone know if/how Portland Fire Dept will be affected by current Oregon budget problems?

    Thinking about applying to their dept. I know they just hired this past November or so... anyone know when they might start up again?

    Hi James,

    I work just outside Portland, but I do have some friends that work for the Bureau. Since the fire bureau is funded primarily through property taxes, and not income taxes, it is highly unlikely that the state financial crisis will have much impact on the city budget.

    I too, have heard that the city will be hiring soon. I suggest you look up their website for more information.
