    www.dragonflynet.com - Steve Slaughter's web site

www.firegraphics.org/grants.htm - my site. Not as many as Steve's but still enough to learn from.

    Default reviews...

I recently completed a rough draft of a narrative and would be interested in sharing it with anyone who would care to review/critique it...

please email me at ezajack@yahoo.com and I will gladly forward a copy for your perusal.

    Thanks in advance.

I'd be willing to look over your narrative and offer some advice, if you'd like, as a help. I have worked on 6 projects in the last two years and 3 of them have been funded, so I have some experience. Every project narrative is different based on what your department looks like. Just forward your narrative and I'll return with some ideas. No strings and no promises. I've been doing this as I can just to help fire departments out.

    Cool narrative's

Not an expert, But I've helped with Four grants in the past two years and all four have be funded. Is it luck or what, but I do think it's all about the way you word thing and paint a picture of what your going to do with the money and how it will effect the betterment of your department.

Email you narrative and I'll be glad to look at it. No string's attached, Just wanting to help the departments that really need the funding.

For those who can use this... In general, most grants follow the same outline.
PROBLEM: What's the problem and how do you know it's a problem?
NEED: Why do you need assistance?
WORK PLAN OR SOLUTION: What are you going to do?
BENEFITS: Who will benefit and how will they benefit from your solution?
BUDGET: Tie what you're asking for in the budget back to the other sections. No surprise expenses.

In the end, just as another grantwriting friend said above, it's really all in how well you paint the picture. Put yourself in the reviewer's shoes. If it were your money to give out and you couldn't fund everybody, what would you look for to convince you this project is a wise investment of your resources and that it's better than the next project. And, your wording - again as was said above, helps the reviewers determine whether you're believable or "puffing smoke".
