LOS ANGELES, CA:
Rene Russo and Baldness?

Dear Friend of the LAFD:

What does the LAFD, award-winning actress Rene Russo, a closely shaved head and St. Patrick's Day have in common? It's all part of our effort at celebrating the diversity of our community and helping the less fortunate.

Please let me explain...

On Friday the 14th, the City of Los Angeles held its Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. Our celebrity Grand Marshal for this year's event was actress and LAFD supporter Rene Russo. She was gracious as ever in accepting this task, and it was our pleasure to provide her a small token of our appreciation in a Formal Commendation that read:

=-=-=

WHEREAS, the men and women of your Los Angeles Fire Department proudly devote their lives to the protection and service of others; and

WHEREAS, Firefighters maintain the utmost respect for those who share a personal culture of responsibility and caring; and

WHEREAS, you have consistently demonstrated support and encouragement to members of the Los Angeles Fire Department through your involvement and publicity of the Adopt-A-Fire Station Program; and

WHEREAS, your kind words of inspiration and donation of exercise equipment to your Neighborhood Fire Station has assured a cadre of Firefighters who are both mentally and physically prepared to offer the finest service possible; and

WHEREAS, you have graciously offered to serve as the Celebrity Grand Marshal for our community's Fourth Annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade, thereby assuring an event that will properly reflect the pride and promise of our community.

THEREFORE, IT IS WITH GREAT PLEASURE that I commend you and extend to you my personal appreciation for your efforts, which clearly display a strong sense of civic pride and commitment to all those who serve and reside in this great City.

WILLIAM R. BAMATTRE
Fire Chief

Ms. Russo is no "Johnny-come-lately" in supporting the men and women of the LAFD, and we are especially proud of her endorsement and participation in our Adopt A Fire Station campaign.

OK, so what's this thing about baldness?

Members of the Los Angeles Fire Department are also proud participants in this month's St. Baldrick's celebration.

Yes... we said Saint Baldrick's!

To further the cause of the National Childhood Cancer Foundation, members of the LAFD are proudly supporting the Saint Baldrick's campaign. We welcome you to learn more...

Please do what you can to support awareness of this or other charities in your community!
