    Default Yonkers ripper

As I sit here and write this, Yonkers, NY has got another roarer. Reports from CBS radio news and others are that a 6 story apartment house is on fire, 60 fire companies are on the scene with at least 12 FDNY units in on mutual aid for the 2nd time in 3 days. No injuries reported as of yet. Ripper city indeed!

When I ran into someone earlier, they received one of those pager alerts...it said Yonkers was on a 10th alarm or something like that...

Yes the pagers are saying 10 alarm+. I think there are more units at this one than the last one.

    damn...

    Keep that stuff up North...

I don't think there was as many units operating at this latest fire as Fridays. This last fire was confined to one building (large 6 story "H" style with mostly masonry construction on the exterior, common in that part of the city). Fridays fire was a whole city block of wood frame buildings.

There were numerous m/a units in the City of Yonkers due to numerous other alarms at the time.

At this latest fire FDNY sent a 2nd alarm assignment to work as it's right up the road from the city line.

Only thing I had to go on was the pages sent out by the paginf affiliates in NY. 1st fire was 50+, second fire was 60+. Mind this is only off of the pagers, so I have no actual idea.

    Still alot of fire...

According to local tv, the fire was finally declared under control at 0300, some 15 hours after the fire started.

Sconfire, I understand, I was judging my info from radio activity listening to the fire, although I wasn't listening through the whole incident. In short I could be wrong too. I'll talk to one of my friends in County Fire Control and see if he can get accurate numbers.
