I am doing an app on behalf of an FD that just bought six used SCBA. In pricing integrated PASS retrofits for them, I found out that, well, you can't get them.
What's anyone's experience or inside info as to whether your score is hurt with manual PASS vs. auto? Would they be better off to request totally new units? Trouble is, we're trying to hold down the cost, because they're new and cash-strapped (who ain't?), so we'd prefer to let them keep these used ones.
Thanks for the help.

"Due to safety benefits afforded firefighters, for applications that include a request for PASS devices, we will only consider funding applications that are requesting equipment that meets current national standards, i.e., integrated and/or automatic PASS".and also stressed it at the workshop

Well, that's pretty clear! I had read that back when I first got the guidance but didn't know then that these units could not be retrofitted.
New SCBA's all around, I guess!
