Fireman dies after fall
Andrew Clinton fell from a hydraulic platform
A fireman has died eight days after he fell from a hydraulic platform during a training session at his Birmingham station.
West Midlands Fire Service said Andrew Clinton suffered head and spinal injuries when he fell 10 feet from the deck of a hydraulic platform at Bournbrook fire station on 9 March.
He was taken to the city's Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he died on Monday.
West Midlands Fire Service's chief fire officer Ken Knight said Mr Clinton would be sadly missed.
"Andy was a very experienced firefighter with well over 20 years service," he said.
"He was at the heart of the white watch at Bournbrook fire station and was looked up to and respected by his colleagues.
"My sincere and heartfelt sympathies and those of the West Midlands Fire Service go to his widow Sue, his son Aaron and his daughter Maxine."
He said a full investigation involving the Health and Safety Executive was in progress.
God Bless our UK brother and his family in this time of mourning.

- Hopefully, a parallel universe where my location doesn't keep getting deleated.
My prayers are with our fallen brother, his family and his department.
"Lay me down beside cool waters,
And lay to rest my body sore.
Send the word out to my brothers,
The fire is down, let it burn no more."
