    Thumbs up Country music

First off I'm not particularly a Country music fan.But I did hear a Great song the other day while road testing a customers car.Unsure of who sings it,but the title is "Have you forgotten?"Every time you see an anti-war group play this song loud and roll down your windows.Preferably stop in front of them while doing this.FORGOTTEN? I KNOW I HAVEN'T!T.C.

Darryl Worley wrote and sings the song. I believe he did it because he went overseas to visit some of the troops and talked to and performed for them. Then when he came back he basically got sick of listening to all the anti-war protesters. So he wrote the song to try to remind everyone why we are where we are today. I will try to find the lyrics to the song and post them on here......

That didn't take long........ Here they are:

    Have You Forgotten?

I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground?
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
    Before you start preaching
Let me ask you this my friend

    CHORUS 1
Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
    And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
    We had neighbors still inside
    Going through a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout Bin Laden
    Have you forgotten?

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it every day
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

    CHORUS 1
Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
    And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
    We had neighbors still inside
    Going through a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout Bin Laden
    Have you forgotten?

I've been there with the soldiers
    Who've gone away to war
And you can bet they remember
    Just what they're fighting for

    CHORUS 2
Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Some went down like heroes in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost
And those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry about Bin Laden
    Have you forgotten?

    Have you forgotten?
    Have you forgotten?

    3 Doors Down
    When I'm Gone

There's another world inside of me that you may never see.
There's secrets in this life that I can't hide.
Somewhere in this darkness there's a life that I can't find.
Maybe it's too far away or maybe I'm just blind, maybe I'm just blind.

So hold me when I'm here right me when I'm wrong.
Hold me when I'm scared and love me when I'm gone.
Everything I am and everything in me
Wants to be the one you wanted me to be.
I'll never let you down even if I could.
I'd give up everything if only for your good.

So hold me when I'm here right me when I'm wrong.
You can hold me when I'm scared but you won't always be there,
So love me when I'm gone, love me when I'm gone
When your education x-ray cannot see under my skin.
I won't tell you a damn thing that I could not tell my friends.

Now roaming through this darkness I'm alive but I'm alone.
Part of me is fighting this but part of me is gone.
So hold me when I'm here right me when I'm wrong.
Hold me when I'm scared and love me when I'm gone.

Everything I am and everything in me.
Wants to be the one you wanted me to be,
Ill never let you down even if I could.
I'd give up everything if only for your good.

So hold me when I'm here right me when I'm wrong
You can hold me when I'm scared, you won't always be there,
So love me when I'm gone.
    (Maybe I'm just blind)

So hold me when I'm here right me when I'm wrong.
Hold me when I'm scared and love me when I'm gone.
Everything I am and everything in me,
Wants to be the one you wanted me to be.

I'll never let you down even if I could.
I'd give up everything if only for your good.
So hold me when I'm here right me when I'm wrong.
You can hold me when I'm scared, you won't always be there.
So love me when I'm gone, love me when I'm gone.

Toby Keith has a good song talking to Osama, but I can't remember the name of it.

"You'll be sorry that you messed with the US of A. Cause we'll put a boot in your ____, its the American Way..."

    Country, but very good lyrics.

That Toby Keith song is called Courtesy Of the Red, White and Blue, also known as the "Angry American Song"

All very excellent songs. I listen to everything, except DIXIE CHICKS! They sound like they have a French accent to me...
I watched Toby Keith last year at The Staduim of Fire in Provo Utah last year. There was a big rucus over whether he could sing that song because of the ***** word. Turns out he sung it and the crowd cheered! Best damn song he has.
He wrote it after his dad died, who was a decorated Vet. (If I remember right)

Actually he wrote it after 9/11, but he dedicated the song to his dad, because of his dad's strong pride for the USA and what it stands for

Anyone ever see "Wag the Dog"? They had someone create a patriotic country song as propaganda to rally American people to support a fabricated war. Rescue101's post just kinda reminded me of that.

Why do I have a feeling someone's going to misinterpret my post and jump all over me?

Toby Keith's song is a good song. Does anyone get the feeling that when he says "A mighty sucker punch came flying in from somewhere in the back" that he wanted to say "somewhere in Iraq"? I always wonder if he originally wrote "Iraq" then when they were said not be involved if he changed it?

Here's that Toby Keith song for htose who dont know it. Personally my favorite song to blare with the windows down.

    American girls and American guys
We'll always stand up and salute
    We'll always recognize
When we see Old Glory flyin'
There's a lot of men dead
So we can sleep in peace at night
When we lay down our head

My daddy served in the army
Where he lost his right eye
But he flew a flag our in our yard
Till the day that he died
    He wanted my mother
    my brother
    My sister and me
To grow up and live happy
In the land of the free

Now this nation that I love
    Has fallen under attack
A mighty sucker punch came flyin' in
    From somewhere in the back
Soon as we could see clearly
    Through our big black eye
Man, we lit up your world
    Like the Fourth of July

    Chorus:

Hey Uncle Sam pur your name
At the top of his list
    And the Statue of Liberty
    Started shakin' her fist
    And the eagle will fly
    And there's gonna be hell
    When you hear Mother Freedom
    Start ringin' her bell
And it'll feel like the whole wide world
    Is rainin' down on you
    Brought to you courtesy
Of the Red White and Blue

    Oh Justice will be served
    And the battle will rage
    This big dog will fight
    When you rattle his cage
and you'll be sorry that you messed with
    The U.S. of A.
Cause we'll put a boot in your ***
    It's the American way

    Chorus

Oh, oh of the Red White and Blue
Oh, oh of the Red White and Blue

I, for one, really like country music. That Toby Keith song is excellent. I made it a point to see the video for "When I'm Gone" tonight... it definately is one of the most moving videos I've seen.

    Default We have...

"We have both kinds of music...country and western!"

I forgot which movie that was from. I think Blues
Brothers. Anyways, country is cool, but get some
fast punk rock in your veins...Social Distortion.
