Could some of the new and/or more experienced FFs out there respond to the below questions? I have recently been officially introduced to the Fire Science field via some college courses and have a few questions to see if this is the right career path for me. My grandfather was a FF on a Cruiser in the Pacific for WWII and I've always been interested. Hearing him talk about a kamikaze pilot hitting their ship and what it was like to put out that fire always kept us kids at the edge of our seats.
How did you prepare to become a FF?
What did the hiring process entail?
How was the fire academy experience?
Thanks to all who respond.

Did you say SAN MATEO???
Noticed that you are from San Mateo. E-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to stop by the firehouse. We might be able to answer some of your questions about employment in the area.
