    0958hrs Jersey City Fire dispatch transmitted Signal Station 625 for a fire reported at 25-27 Oak Street (Calvary Baptist Church). Squad 4 first to arrived had a 2 story brick church 50 x 75 with smoke showing in the rear. W/F units were dispatched @ 10:02hrs. Batt 2 (Battalion Chief Cobb) arrived and sized up the situation
    and ordered a 2nd alarm at 10:09hrs as smoke was now pouring out of the rear of the building. This fire was quickly knocked down and confined to the Soup Kitchen area of the church which was located in the rear basement area. Dep 1 Deputy Chief Sinnott arrived and the fire was under control. Units knocked the fire down in the kitchen with 1 line. As churchgoers were arriving they found thier church had a fire which cause church members to find an alternate place of worship for this sunday. Car 26's (Gong Club Canteen) services were not required as per Dep 1.
