Hi everybody!
Does anybody here know of any on-the-job firefighters who developed their diabetes BEFORE they were firefighters?? If so, are their any special procedures these firefighters must follow before responding or while on a call? I have heard of cases of fire departments in the states hiring diabetics but I have not heard anything about Canadian departments hiring diabetics. Any information pertaining to this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks gang!

Diabetes in Firefighters...
I don't think that there would be a problem, with diabetic firefighters joining the fire department, as long as their diabetes are managed, and they know the precautions to take in order to make sure that this problem does not occur when on shift!
Firefighters are beneficial to every community with the wealth of information they have!
They don't get enough praise, for the information and skills they know! It could save your life one day!!!!!
