Fire department loses truck

An Escambia County fire engine was knocked out of commission Wednesday morning when a tractor-trailer rig lugging 87,000 pounds of logs smashed into it head-on on Beulah Road.

Fire crews were working a traffic accident beside the road about 9:50 a.m. when the crash happened, said Cantonment Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jeff Bingle.
