Hello, my name is mike and im a junior firefighter in PA. Ive been in the department for a year and 6 months. The surrounding departments of my community made the switch to dispatchers many years ago, however our department got to keep our paid drivers. But now since our town didnt have enough money to pass their 25 mill budget. They laid off our paid drivers and now my minitor wont kick/beep anymore. So i was just wondering if any one else went throguh the same situation as me? I have a minitor III. The minitor II's beep but the III's don't what should i do about this? Please reply your opinion or suggestions.

Driver - drives the apparatus.They laid off our paid drivers and now my minitor wont kick/beep anymore
Dispatcher - dispatches calls, usually via radios which activate pagers.
What do the two have in common in your area?"This thread is being closed as it is off-topic and not related to the fire industry." - Isn't that what the Off Duty forum was for?

Say what? I think you totally lost everyone.
Even the burger-flippers at McDonald's probably have some McWackers.

I got a reply from him via PM, their paid drivers used to sit at their firehouse and wait for a call, when someone would call the firehouse the driver would dispatch the call, then drive.

Umm. Not for nothin', but who answers the phones now? Who answered after the driver took the truck? Is this 9-1-1 or a normal phone line? Why would a minitor II work but not a III??

Who is this kid?
Bonesy;
This is the same kid that went to the "Inexperienced FFs as Officers" thread and wrote "BA BA BA BA BA BA BULLSH**.
A junior with 1-1/2 years in and he's ready to go.
It never ceases to amaze me.
Hey, kid; I almost forgot; check out the new and improved Minitor IVs.

Ya know, I am all for training and the junior program is great, but if there is one thing (aside from beerboy) that will make me stop posting here it's the juniors. They should have their own side of this page and not be allowed to post here.

From one of your many "Meet and Greet" threads:
Want acceptance? Here are a couple of pointers.Hi again,
Like I said last time, I'm a new member to firehouse and am merely searching acceptance. So please feel free to reply to any and all of my forums.
Thanks,
1) Use proper grammar
2) Show some intelligence
3) Make sure people can follow your posts
4) Don't post stuff like "BA BA BA BA BA BA BULLSH**"
5) Remember, you are a junior. There are guys here who have been doing it longer than your parents have been alive. Don't be like the countless juniors on these forums that act like they know everything.
5) You've only been around for 1 1/2 years so it is not "BA BA BA BA BA BA BULLSH**" that you don't know SH SH SH SH SH SH SH**!IACOJ Agitator

I agree with Adze, being a junior I have learned that everyone needs to learn to thank before they speak myself included.

Re: Paid Drivers to 911?
I'm going to assume your question is legit and respond accordingly. As others have noted here, the phrasing and formatting of your question leaves much to be desired.Originally posted by Fighting81st

All personal pagers are "activated" by transmitting a tone or series of tones, in a specific sequence, from your dispatch center. These tones are decoded by your "minitor" device...and the unit reacts accordingly, either vibrating or giving some sort of audible alert.
Unless they have changed these tones and/or frequency of the radio transmissions from the dispatch center...there seems to be no reason why your "minitor" isn't working.
It does not matter whether these tones are transmitted by a paid driver at the firehouse...or a dispatcher at a console somewhere;
It should not affect your "minitors" ability to decode those tones.
What is it that you aren't telling us? If someone besides the paid drivers is still activating tones to alert your members to respond, and I assume that would still be the case.....what has changed in that process? Is the transmitter at a different location? Is it a different frequency? Is it located too far for your minitor to receive the needed tone data?
Most of all...why haven't you made this inquiry to your advisor, OR an officer of the department? Perhaps they could address the question very easily.Proudly serving as the IACOJ Minister of Information & Propoganda!
