Firefighter dies in blaze at motorcycle shop
By MIKE MORRIS
of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The second fire in less than 24 hours at a Gwinnett County motorcycle repair shop turned deadly Monday night when a firefighter died while battling the blaze.
The firefighter, who has not been identified, collapsed while cutting a hole in the roof of the Holy Rollers cycle repair shop on Arcado Road.
"He was removed from the roof and transported to Eastside Medical Center, where they tried to work with him," said Gwinnett Fire Capt. David Dusik.
The fire broke out about 8:15 p.m., about 17 hours after an early morning blaze damaged the shop, which is in a strip shopping center near Lilburn.
Both fires remain under investigation.
Dusik said state authorities, as well as the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, would be assisting in determining the cause.

I send all respects to his family.

Lt. Bobby Patrick
Lt. Patrick was full of life. One of the kind of guys that people liked being around.
It was first dispatched early Monday morning. Units were again dispatched about 15 hours later. While on the roof conducting ventilation a mayday was issued. Immediate ALS was administered. They removed Lt. Patrick from the roof and had a rhythm before leaving the scene I am told. Also told ED staff worked with him for nearly two hours.
We have been extremely lucky. The last firefighter we lost was in December 1996 in a four story condo fire in a neighboring county.
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers!!
