Three Killed in Crash of Twin-Engine Plane
Apr. 18, 2003
(Provo-AP) -- Three Utah County men -- two flying instructors and a student pilot -- were killed when their twin-engine plane crashed in a pasture one mile north of the Provo airport.
The Cessna 310 apparently was in trouble and on final approach to land when it crashed into the field about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, witnesses said.
The victims were identified as Michael Burk, of Pleasant Grove, Todd Heiner, of Provo, and Jared Jorgensen, of Orem. All three were experienced pilots, according to a Utah County Sheriff's Department statement Friday.
The plane had been rented by the student from Advantage Aviation for a couple of hours of training, said Rod Jones, co-owner of the flying service based at the Provo Municipal Airport.
