ok it makes me wonder
when you go into a structure you got all your gear on including mask, you have your radio in your radio pocket, but what happens if your in a smoke filled room with low oxygen level, and you need to use your radio, how do you communicate using your radio.

Press the button, and talk.
You can hold the microphone up to your throat/upper chest. Talk slowly and clearly, it will come over the radio just fine. The PPE will mute it slightly, but just talk normally, not too fast."This thread is being closed as it is off-topic and not related to the fire industry." - Isn't that what the Off Duty forum was for?

The only stupid question is the one that is not asked.
Depending on which SCBA mask your department uses, you may be able to get a battery powered speech amplifier, We use the Scott 4.5 with the AV 2000 mask. The amplifier works great.

yes at school our masks have no V.A. so we yell to get the point accross...on L-26 at the department we have them and you can talk fine and not have any problems with communication
