    Default Females

How many departments have female members? And would you trust them like a man on the fire scene?

This is not meant to start things, just treat it like a poll.

It's just that any thread that is labeled "This is not meant to start things" usually does...in a big way!! So how are you going to react when Cletus gets on here and yaps his slack-jawed gums about inferior firefighting skills of women?? And so it begins...a big whoop over an issue that has been beaten to death on the forums. It's a free country...bring up what you wish...but to those of us that have been through this a MILLION times, it's like "Here we go again".

    BTW....be more specific....Where exactly???

How many departments have yellow fire trucks, and do you like them as much as the red ones?

You can't honestly believe that could get away with asking this question by adding the proviso that we are to look at it as just a poll?

Would you ask the question, " How many departments have African-American(or South Asian, or Aboriginal, or Hispanic etc, etc) members, and would you trust them like a Caucasian on the fire scene?"
Of course not, how ridiculous and stupid would that be? Why are you trying to stir the pot by asking about male and female members on a fire department?

This question has been beaten to death too many times.

You know spitfire. You're really starting to concern me. I'm wondering if you are a firefighter at all. Maybe an explorer (no offence intended to the explorers) but I doubt a firefighter. IF you were, you would understand that on fire ground, you are generic! It doesn't make a difference if you are a man, woman or flying purple ape, if you can do the job then you are there. If not then go ride a desk somewhere and get the hell out of the way of the people who can!

Are you gonna ask what color everyone's engine is now?

    Rev, that was beautiful!

How many departments cook with peanut oil? And do you trust it as much as olive oil in your kitchens?

How many of your departments have male members? And do you TRUST them. I have FIREFIGHTERS in my department, sex is not a issue of weather I trust them. Some of the female firefighters in my department are as well or better trained than the men. I trust all the firefighters that I practice and fight fire with, when you put your gear on you put it on the same way weather male or female. One leg at a time!!! If you can't trust your fellow firefighters in you department at a call you have some serious issues that need taken care of.

WHOOAAA!!!!! Psycho started this as an innocent thread. She didn't want to turn it into a huge conflict, so let's not turn it into one. We all know that it doesn't matter what you are on the fire scene, as long as you know what you're doing.
