Default My Own Question Of The Day

    Here is an interesting question?

What rolls out first for a house structure fire thru your department.

Ours used to be a resuce truck and an engine but now we got a new tanker its a Tanker (2600 Gal) and an engine....

Just wondering what gets rolled out of your department on a house fire.

    Thanks

Our Station Chief will roll to the Scene in his POV to start the Size up, Our Engine will be out first followed by our Arial, then utility truck(if there are guys that missed the rigs). Unless the Chief in his size up calls for something else first.

Also since it is a Confirmed station Fire Another station is going to start rolling there engine, and then any other rigs that are asked for.

Now the last one we has we has an all call, so all 4 stations rolled. So to answer your question the first on scene will always be the Chief or a Captain. This is so that they can first confirm the call, do the size up, and change the SOP on the fly is needed, else it is by the Book engine, then Arial with back up units as called out.

We are the first of two companies in town....we just had a fire on Sunday night and here's what rolled..
    Initial Call:
    Engine 1
    Quint 2
    Ladder 1

    Confirmed fire w/extension:
    Engine 1-1
    Rescue 1 (Cascade)
Engine 2-1 (In theory, but I don't think that they had guys go & get it...they all went to the scene POV...)
Once again....the above views are my own and not that of my department. (And probably should not be construed as having any real meaning, whatsoever!)

first out on a structure fire in the city limits is an Engine and ladder, uless the chief request another engine instead of the ladder. structure fires out in hydrant areas of the fire district are 2 engines, in non hydrant areas and on mutual aid its and engine and tanker.

Chief gets on scene first all the time, so when he gets there he will give a size up, while our engine responds to the scene. Our Salvage truck will also roll if there is members that cant make it to the engine. If it is a confirmed structure fire in a rural area then well brng out our 2100 gallon Tanker.

Being through a city dept. it is 2 engines, 1 ladder, 1 command.
For a hi-rise it is a 3 engines, 2 ladders, 1 command. City just got a new rescue/hazmat unit and will be put in service next year as Rescue 1. It will run all fire alarms etc. As of now it is only hazmat 1.

we roll the engines first and if its for the hospital or lipton tea co. (big manufacturing building) we usually roll the tower ladder first.sometimes the engine and the ladder roll at the same time.

if we get enough guys we will send every thing accept the brush trucks

    for a structure fire
it goes in the order of
    engine 3 (first due piece)
    ladder 1
enging 2 (mutual aid piece), post 25
    rescue 1
and then a call for mutual aid to cover the station
    ambulance 1
    engine 1
we will be toned out if needed badly but we will usualy go by the third truck to leave the station

    mva
    ambulance 1
    rescue 1
    ambulance 2
    call for mutual aid
ladder 1 (if this needs to go uot there is a serious problem)

    mutual aid calls
    engine 2
and then what ever the town that called us needs
