My post is through a city department. We can ride any unit that is enclosed over the cab. All we have to do is tell our person in charge of ride-a-longs, schedule it, get station OIC for the shifts permision and thats all.

This is how it goies in our dept.....
If theres a call, and you are at, or can get to the firehouse quick enough, then you hop on a truck, and leave!

Yea if we want to ride on a call when we are at the station then we have to ask the captain on duty and then if he says yes than cool.

In my dept. (MFD) we are pretty much like paid guys, we show up, after we call ahead and OK it with the OIC. then once we are issued our turnouts, we can maby help do overhaul. I can ride on Engine or Truck 71, or Squad 71 if its a fire call and i want to.

in the back of our rescue it supposed to only hold 5, that what the sign says atleast, but i think we've gotten 12 back there. The sign says "seating capacity 5" so, we made sure there were only 5 sitting

I don't think that is something that you should be saying in public. You may want to kinda erase that.

Westvilles Jrs are allowed out on only fire runs and MVC's. no EMS runs like with the squad and/or rescue, but if a limited crew on the rescue( for help of the squad) we can go. We arent suposned to be on first due but otherwise told by an OIC

privately owned vehicle; as opposed to a vehicle owned by an organization, such as a fire department.

In my department, as Juniors, we may not be on any vehicle responding code (lights & siren). So that really limits the calls we get to go on.

And, we cannot go in POV to the scene, unless we go to the firehouse, and get permission from a Sr. member.
