What a wonderful gesture!!
Bank One CEO buys thermal-imaging equipment
(Chicago-AP) -- A banking executive is giving Chicago
firefighters the gift of sight.
Bank One Chairman Jamie Dimon has given the city of Chicago
one-point-two million dollars to buy 120 thermal-imaging cameras.
The special cameras allow firefighters to see through dense
smoke and find trapped victims. They also allow rescuers to view
flames that would otherwise be hidden behind walls and ceilings.
Every firehouse in the city will receive one of the cameras.
Firefighters demonstrated the equipment during a press
conference yesterday.
A mock rescue without the cameras took four-and-a-half minutes.
The same rescue was completed in two-minutes and 15-seconds using
the cameras.

FYI
Thanks for the info NJ. To add to it, the $1,200,000 is his own money, not a donation from Bank One.

Unfortunately that is the only way I cn see Big City Fire Departments coming up with equipment like that on that large a scale.

The news said that there will be one camera for each station in the city. The city just finished doing testing of all brands of camera to make a purchase when this offer was made. I think that it was a deal with Bullard.
