I heard that Pennsylvania is thinking about changing it's age for an EMT-B to 18. Is this true, or just rumor? If it's true, what about those currently under 18 who have their cert.?

Changing EMT-B Age?
In PA you can be any age to take an EMT course and take the state test as long as if you are a minor to have a parent/guardian approve you to take the course. I work as a Volunteer EMT in Philadelphia and we have 2 teenager volunteers that work with us.

Actually you must be 16 to ride in an ambulance and therefore, 16 to sit for the state test. I know this because I am currently in EMT school. But my question was whether PA had seriously thought about changing the age recently.

I believe you also have to be at least 18 to ride solo in the back.
