1010, probably the best helmet
I don't know what kind of helemt you got or qhat the salesman told you, but the 1010 is one of the best, if not THE best helmet on the market right now.
These words are my opinion only.

My two cents;
There is only one great helmet, and that helmet is a Cairns LEATHER!!

I have had a leather helmet, and I dont think I want one. I really dont care what it is made of as long as its better than the one I have. I just want one that isnt a salad bowl and wont fall off my head so easy. AKA: Better fit, not as big.

Helmet Preference
The following opinions are mine and mine alone. They do not represent that of any of my affiliated organizations.
That said, on with my post.
I've worn a number of lids. I have to say that my current Cairns New Yorker is probably one of the most comfortable helmets I have worn. I've tried Bullard's, Morning Pride's and Cairns. I have to say that the Cairns helmets have been some of the most comfortable. My 1010 was good back a few years ago, but nothing beats the fit of my leather.
Remember, wear whats most comfortable to you within your state's guidelines. If you don't have a choice of headgear, wear what they issue and make the best of it.

I do agree, a Cairns Leather is the best, but when you cant get a leather, the 1010 is the only way to go!!!FF I

I've worn the old Cairns 1000s, a Cairns 1010, and now I have a Paul Conway Shields American Heritage Leather.
The 1000 was nice and light, but too small for my comfort. The 1010 was bigger and little bit heavier, but it's a fantastic helmet. It'd taken a beating and was still in good condition, so I turned it back in and commissioned my Paul Conway lid. I like the feel of the American Heritage, but I haven't had a real chance to run it through the mill yet.

I have a Cairns 1010, very nice helmet. The firefighters that are not candidates just got Paul Conway American Heritage helmets, very nice as well.

1835Wayne, the link you posted to eBay was the leather I bought few weeks ago! It's a small world after all... I got it so I'd have one at the volly house again, since I painted my old black one and wear it at work now.

I have a Cairns 660 and its not that bad at all. Although i would rather have the 1010, its light and durable. But hey i guess any helmet is better than no helmet.
