(Dracut-AP) -- A Dracut woman claims gender discrimination kept
her from getting a job on the town's fire department.
Tracy Desrochers has filed a complaint with the Massachusetts
Commission Against Discrimination.
The 37-year-old woman says she was on her way to becoming the
town's first female firefighter in late December when Fire Chief
Leo Gaudette and Town Manager Dennis Piendak informed her she would
be one of three new firefighters hired.
All she had to do was pass her physical. But she never took the
physical because of emergency surgery to remove her appendix. Two
men who were scheduled to take the physical at the same time were
hired.
Town officials deny gender discrimination. They say the job was
frozen because of budget constraints.

Ok, sounds like the two who were available to have the physical passed and went on to get the jobs, and she wasn't ready in time. Somehow HER surgery makes it the department's fault she wasn't hired? I'd love to hear more about it.
