Question animal and pet rescue in fire service training

I am a voulenteer at a rural fire dept. is there an established traing program for large and small animal rescue. (vitals CPR handling, constraining pets and animal in cases of House fires, auto accidents ETC.) We recently had a house fire the owners dog escaped but the cat did not, needless to say the family was very up set. The cat wasn't burned, but dead from smoke and fumes. I read in a fire house article that a cat was rescuitated after being found. I would like to know were to get that information. It was haert breaking seeing these little kids cry, and I want to make sure I did all I could, that I didn't give up to soon on there cat. any help would be greatly appreciated.
