I've been told that all FFs will have to be first resp soon. I've also heard that they want to roll emt-b and advanced into one. Anyone have an ear to the ground? Jason

On the subject of merging the EMTB and EMTI that has been around for along time and nothing has been done. And I'm not holdng my breath on waiting for it to happen. Their has been talk about expanding the Basics scope of practice to include IV's and making an Intermeidate closer to a medic. If you look on the State EMS website you wil see that is what is occuring. EMTI will now be able to give first line ACLS meds.
As for the FF getting First Responder, that maybe happening for the 240hr FFII. I know that they have added on an extra week of class for the guys so that may be in the works. Now requiring current FF and FFIA people I highly doubt it due to the amoun of training required and the cost.AKA: Mr. Whoo-Whoo
