I have noticed a few barbs back and forth on here between USA, England, and Australia on driving on right or left side. Several years ago I was at a conference in UK and one evening several of us got together to hoist a few pints. One chap was from Liverpool and another was a fire instructor from University of Oklahoma name of Kreager or Crager. After a few, jousting began on who and why of driving. The Chief from Liverpool stated that they English drive on the left because in olden days, they used their sword with their right hand so they passed on the left in order to better lop off the enemies head. The Oklahoman, who I may add, was probably the poster boy for crusty replied " Hell son, we rode horses too, but Sam Colt decided that we could shoot right or left so it didn't much matter." The table broke up at that point.
