THE COALITION OF 9/11 FAMILIES..."mutual aid" needed. These folks need our help to preserve history for America's Memorial to 9/11. The Coalition of 9/11 Families are working to create a memorial in honor of the heroism of America at the WTC site.
THE COALITION OF 9/11 FAMILIES will soon need your help to preserve the WTC site for our memorial. So, why is this an issue? The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation still wants to put a bus terminal inside the slurry wall/bath tub (a/k/a the "hole"...the "pit"...the "pile"..."Ground Zero") area on Bed Rock at the WTC site....essentially right on the grounds where your 343 Brother Firefighters (and thousands of others) were murdered. The "Coalition" which wants the federal government to take over the memorial development, also enlisted former Mayor Rudy to lobby for their (our) case. If the "businessmen" do what they want-it would be the same disrespect as building a mall in the middle of the Gettysburg battlefields. How quickly people forget.
The Coalition, actively lead by FDNY's Lee Ielpi, Rescue 2 (ret) and father of the late FF Jonathan Ielpi, FDNY Squad 288 (RIP 9/11/01), are fighting them tooth and nail. But it's a difficult, nasty and political battle and they need help. As Lee wrote me "Who best to ask but the Fire Service" More details to follow soon.
