As most of you know, our friends from ISO visited here yesterday.
Met with Shane Stage from down Bloomington way (he's up taking some of the workload off of Doug Hayes). Good guy, very fair. All went well up to flow testing, when I had to abandon him to go on an ambo call. I don't think he was to ******ed off about walking back to the station, but I wonder why he threw the hydrant wrench through the window? (that's a joke, the PW guy gave him a ride)
Anyway, things seemed to go well. We'll hear more in a few months.

You think all went well. I thought so, too, since he kept saying OK, OK, OK,. You'd think he liked my answers. Not always, as our grade showed. Our guy was fair and gave us a lot of good suggestions. Good luck with your rating. Hope you go up a notch or two. We did improve by one in all 4 of the towns we cover. The biggest could probably have gotten an extra one if their water supply people would do any maintenance. They had the flow, but no maintenance records for valves or hydrants for over 20 years. And they probably didn't do anything for those 20 years to record. We sure had people ticked off when we did flow testing. The water got stirred up for days. 20 years of dirt takes a while to settle back down.

Did it hurt?
So now that your ISO crisis is over, you'll be re-joining the meaningful dialogue that is known as the Illinois thread?
Will you have time for us now? Buddy?
How's that truck runnin'?

Good luck on your new rating. Nice to hear everything went well.
Have not had the privilage of meeting Shane or Doug. At least you didn't get the ***** from Chicago we had a few years ago. He is no longer with ISO...Thank God

When it rains, it FREAKIN pours!!
ISO on Monday, and yesterday, I got a visit from the Illinois Department of LABOR!!!!
"Yes, ma'am. Yes, ma'am. Yes, I will ma'am...."
What ******ed me off were all the knuckleheads that came in and interrupted us during the meeting. Duh! Can't you see I'm meeting with somebody right now, dumb*****?
I'm hoping they'll buy us a STATION!!! Two bids are in. What a difference! Second bid was THREE TIMES as much as the first! Oh, this is fun!Originally posted by 80Fire

Balanced Budget!
Jay:
This is just another step in Rod's promise to erase the deficit.
He plans on citing and fining fire departments for DOL violations.
Should bring in another million or so.
Expect traffic tickets to increase too. There's no money in stopping and assisting motorists. PR can be expensive. So, we are going to eliminate PR in favor of zero tolerance. 65 MEANS 65. 66 and you get a ticket. That should bring in another million or so.
We should be back in the black in no time under the direct control of HOT ROD!
Hey, you can afford to pay a fine with the money you will save your city with a better ISO rate!
There's probably an old barn or two needing torn down. It would be a good start on a new station. Plenty of good wood in an old barn.
I see a blessing in da skies.
Now; don't you feel a little better?
