The Gateway Chapter of SPAAMFAA, "Society for the Preservation and Admiration of Antigue Motorized Fire Apparatus in America," is holding their summer convention in St. Louis this weekend at the Embassy Suites Hotel, located at 2nd Street & Martin Luther King Blvd.

The convention will include a parade of over 60 antigue fire trucks on Friday night, August 1, 2003, at 7:15 PM, on Leonor K. Sullivan Blvd, from Chouteau Ave. to Cass Ave. with Lights & Sirens. Excellent viewing will be from the steps below the Gateway Arch.

Saturday, August 2, 2003, from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM, the parade vehicles & more, will be on display on the parking lot adjacent to the Hotel in Lacledes Landing. It will also include a Fire Equipment & Memorabilia Flea Market.

Also on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, Aug. 1, 2, & 3, the German Cultural Festival, the "Strassenfest", will be held in St. Louis, at Tucker & Market Streets.
