I am not sure if it is true or not, but someone remarked to me that until recently Boston did not get paid for sick leave, is this true? If so are many other Dept's in the same boat?

Boston had a some sort of weird set up and I don't htink that sick leave accrued from year to year. Their sick days were paid however.
The new system is taht each person gets 15 sick days per year and if I recall there is a certain number of sick days given to all members depending upon how long they were on the job. This has resulted in a huge boom in sick time usage because guys have used up a lot of their earned sick time reducing manpower because so many guys have called out on shifts."Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like."
