Make sure you have full support of your department. If a high-ranking officer (such as the chief) is making an executive decision to start the post, make sure the rest of the department knows it. I have had first hand experience of being in a post where the majority of the department does not like the post but the officers were in full support. Once the rest of the department knew how the officers felt, attitudes changed. We should just glue their lips to the officer’s @$$.
Just another case of people with fragile egos and there being too many chiefs and not enough Indians…
