Fire blazes through RV; nearby house saved:
Flames ripped through a recreational vehicle parked near a house in western Leon County Tuesday, but Tallahassee firefighters were able to save the home, TFD spokeswoman Pat Teague said. Firefighters from Station 14 arrived to find flames and black smoke coming from a recreational vehicle, or RV, parked in a carport detached from the home in the 4100 block of Fred Hatfield Road, Teague said. According to firefighters on scene, the fire started in the RV's kitchen. The cause is still under investigation; damage to the RV and surrounding property is estimated at $75,000, Teague said.
