THEY GAVE THEIR ALL
They joined to make a difference
They weren't looking for a halo
But little did they know
That God would choose them for a hero
They were just ordinary people
Just like you and I
They never dreamed that nine-eleven
Would be their day to die
With no thought for their own safety
They rushed in to do their best
To rescue all the wounded
And shed tears for all the rest
They never thought, or stopped to wonder
Can I help my fellow man
They only prayed, Please God
Let me help however I can
To their friends, and to their families
Stand with pride, and stand tall
To the world, they are all heroes
For they truly gave their all.

To all our brothers - fallen, but NEVER forgotten
As someone so eloquently put it just after it happened - 9/11/01 - the day that Heaven got one hell of a fire departmentBusy polishing the stacked tips on the deckgun of I.A.C.O.J. Engine#1
...and before you ask - YES I have done a Bloody SEARCH!

I have just returned home from attending a remembrance ceremony at the American LaFrance plant here in South Carolina. The crowd was lucky enough to have a FDNY brother from Engine 63 on hand to present a flag to ALF. The highpoint of the ceremony was when he was asked to "strike the bell" in FDNY's traditional 5-5-5-5 sequence to remember our brothers. This moved me to tears... I will never forget

Into the Fire - Bruce Springsteen
The sky was falling and streaked with blood
I heard you calling me then you disappeared into the dust
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need your kiss, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs into the fire
May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love
May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love
You gave your love to see in fields of red and autumn brown
You gave your love to me and lay your young body down
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need you near but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs into the fire
May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love
May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love
May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love
It was dark, too dark to see, you held me in the light you gave
You lay your hand on me
Then walked into the darkness of your smoky grave
Somewhere up the stairs into the fire
Somewhere up the stairs into the fire
I need your kiss, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs into the fire
May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love
May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love
May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love
May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love
May your love give us love

"NEVER FORGET" - it means more to some of us than just a catchy
