LOS ANGELES, CA:
GREATER ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE

On Monday, September 8, 2003 at 1101 hours twelve companies of Firefighters, four Battalion Command Teams, three Rescue Ambulances and one EMS Battalion Captain under the direction of Assistant Chief G.A. West responded to a greater alarm structure fire at 6467 Lankershim Boulevard in the North Hollywood area. First units on scene reported a 125’ x 150’ one story thrift store with fire through the roof. Firefighters using handlines confined the fire to the “Colony Thrift Store” and extinguished the fire in thirty-six minutes. Firefighters were ordered off the roof and out of the building prior to extinguishment due to structural compromise with an ensuing partial collapse of the roof. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is incendiary/under investigation and the loss is estimated at $130,000. ($100,000 to structure and $30,000 to contents).
