SPRING HILL - One person was seriously injured when his car spun out of control and collided with a sportutility vehicle on Northcliffe Boulevard Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
The driver of the red Honda Civic, who was not identified, was traveling west on Northcliffe Boulevard, near Hayes Street about 4:45 p.m. when he careened across a grassy median and struck a Hyundai SUV head on, said Florida Highway Patrol Trooper John Baker.
Baker said the driver of the two-door car was flown by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. But the trooper did not disclose whether the driver's injuries were life-threatening.
The driver and passengers of the green SUV, which was traveling in the eastbound lanes, were taken to Oak Hill Hospital as a precaution. They also were not identified.
Meanwhile, traffic was detoured around the scene of the accident for one hour as emergency personnel worked and the highway patrol continued its investigation.
