Lodd Benefits in NY

Wondering if anyone can help point me in the right direction.
Some members of our dept. are interested in finding out the exact death benefits offered by New York State and/or the Federal Gov't in the unfortunate event of a LODD in a VOLUNTEER department. One of our commisioners was supposed to look into this, but it has been put on the back burner, it seems. Thanks in advance for any help.
