    Default Autumn in the flatlands....

    The leaves are turning.
The Cubs are in the running.
    Harvest has started.
Football has started and the Bears suck again.

We'll be shoveling snow again soon....

And don't forget to watch for slow moving vehicles; tractors, tractors pulling wagons, combines....and the Amish!

Speaking of autumn, any of your northerners get frost this morning? We had about 38, but I didn't see frost. My in-laws are from around Pontiac and they were here visiting this weekend. Hope they took all this cold back with them. I'm ready for 80 again.

New stadium, same results. Just another reason why they should have signed Drew Bledsoe when they had the chance.

What a sickening display. I went to the local watering hole and watched the Packers play football. I was wondering when the opposing team would show up.

I'll tell you, I firmly believe the NIU Huskies could give the Bears one hell of a game.

Jack, we've had frost the last 2 mornings. 31 yesterday and 33 today. Thurs morning down to upper 20s.
We Bear fans have suffered long enough. As for the Cubs-Atlanta sweeps!

Unhappy I feel like Dick Jauron; a LOSER!

Well, those guys over in the Federal FIRE Act forum who are impersonating grant writing experts have hurt my feelings again.
They have made it abundantly clear that I am shifting blame, when in fact, I wrote a crappy grant application.
Where were they before I hit the "send" key? Now they tell me if I had only enlisted their help, they could have provided me with a successful grant. Oh whoa is me!
Been shut out for three years. They seem to think that my insights might single handedly tube the program. Jeez; I hope they don't shift the program to the Office of Domestic Preparedness...
    They did?
Well, I think my chances just improved for 2004!

Art, next year write the application then have someone else sign it. Does somebody have it it for you out there?
I got an email on Friday with the 7 questions. Cool, huh.

Back to autumn, I had a low of 26.6 at 5:45 this morning......BURRRRR (as my teeth are chattering). Ahh opening day of bow season. My smokehouse is ready to go

Frosty here this morning but boy oh boy its October 1st and going to be at least 22 degrees!!! (72) 20 tomorrow!!! 18 Friday!

Absolutely gorgeous weather .... golf courses will be open until the end of October unless we get dumped on. Heard on the radio the Farmer's Almanac says we will have a mild winter, with most of the snow coming in November. We shall see.

Beautiful blue sky the past 3 mornings, except for the brown crud on the horizon ewwwwwwwwwwww grossssssssss

    Angry Bambi, my *****

    Kill all them f$^($&#@@& deer!!

Bow season, phooey! They should have mini-gun season!

Kill 'em all! All they do is run out in front of the damn traffic.

And I don't even care much for venison. Makes good jerky, though.

    Default Oh; I get it!

So, we're suppose to talk about things that are related to the changing seasons; Fall/Autumn. I think I understand.
I love the smell of oak being burnt in the wood burners and fireplaces. The nip in the air is so inviting. I can see my breath. I am giddy with excitement. The trees are starting to deliver that kaleidoscope of colors that reminds me that Fall is here and Winter is just around the corner. My scrotum shrivels with glee!
Soon, I will be doubling up on the arthritis medication but I don't care. The pain is worth it to see the furry little squirrels gathering their nuts and building their nests. I wonder quietly to myself "God, I miss Mom's squirrel gravy." It's time to put the lawn ornaments away, along with the patio furniture. Jacuzzi weather is here. Friends will now be calling wanting to come over for a visit, but they will bring their swimsuits in the hopes that we invite them into the jacuzzi. Ah, Fall and Friendship!
Wienie roasts, sitting around the fire and drinking. Drinking lots of beer. Peeing every five minutes. Standing with my back to the fire. Drinking. Peeing. Drinking and peeing. Eating hot dogs. Breaking wind. Hot dogs make me gassy. But who cares. It's autumn.
Making cookies. Cookies shaped like leaves. Lady bugs. A large infestation of lady bugs. Seeing the first mouse. Getting the traps set. Little devils love Jiffy peanut butter. Ah, peanut butter cookies. And apple cider. Getting the Indian corn for the table's centerpiece. Taking the scenic drive. Buying more crap that will wind up at the yard sale.
You know; I DO feel better. I think if I write my narrative like this next year, I may just have a shot at the grant money.
Excuse me while I go outside and laugh uncontrollably!
