    Default Cubs Win! Cubs Win!

How 'bout those NL Central Champion Chicago Cubs?

I predict the Cubs over Atlanta in 5.

And remember, before there was "Holy Cow", there was "Hey Hey"

And Congrats to Ron Santo in honor of the retirement of his number 10

So the Cubs win - big deal. Oh, wait, that IS a big deal.
Congratulations to the Cubs. I guess I'be always been more of a Cardinals fan (they're only 60 miles away) but the Cubs are a close 2nd. It's great to see a team with such devoted fans win the division. And remember where your "Holy Cow" came from - the Cardinals' Harry Carey.

Well, they're now 1 & 1 and playing in the windy city. Maybe the weather will be cold enough that the the braves won't be so brave and buckle under the frost at wrigley.

Chicago takes a 2-1 lead on a game that saw four errors by Atlanta. I don't know that any of Chicago's runs were earned. Castilla was doing that "Ole" crap at third base for Atlanta. Oh well; it's a win.
Mark Prior displayed excellent pitching skills. My only thought on that is: who is Chicago going to trade him to?
    Go Cubbies.

maybe you Cub fans better tell Sosa to run instead of standing at home plate admiring a pop up how many triples could he have had that were doubles cause he did his hop before the ball hit the wall instead of going over.

Good luck youse guys, but atlanta 4-3

Noticed quite a few Cubs fans in that Atlanta stadium last night. I listened to it 720 AM.
I'll bet those 95 year old Cub Fans are doing the dance today.

    Default What curse?

You know; I don't like to be a Monday morning quarterback, but I have to question the decision not to start Prior. The offense displayed by the Cubbies last night would have been more than enough to win behind Prior's pitching.
Need this one tonight. Anyone heard who's starting?

    Default Sloppy Start....

The Cubs tried trading for Mike Lowell right around the All Star break, but Florida wouldn't give him up. Smart move on their part. Give Florida credit, they came back with a vengence, and after the third inning it turned out to be a pretty good game. FL's Alex Gonzalez came up with 2 great plays at shortstop which probably saved the game for them.

Mark Prior(18-6)goes against Brad Penny(14-10)tonight. I thought Prior would start last night too, but I guess Dusty had other ideas. Wood and Clement are supposed to go in games 3 and 4 in FL.

Maybe we should be in the Crusty chat room tonight for some play by play analysis?

Quite an offensive display last night, backed by solid Mark Prior pitching.
Final score of 12-3 pretty says it all. This game was over early. Sammy sent one clear to Wisconsin last night. Say what you want; the man don't need cork when he has as much power and strength as he has.
Speaking of power and strength; did you hear that Schwartzenegger is governor of California now?
Since Jay is a naturalized German now, he will be happy to hear it.
Go Cubbies. Sounds like Woody is pitching next; followed by Clement.
What a series! Strangely, I have a hankerin' for fish!

    Default Outstanding!

Most impressive! But they should save some of that offense for the next few games. Prior was brilliant as usual, keeping Florida off balance for most of the night.

Wood is up next! Kid K will hopefully come through again.

Thanks to Sher as she joined me in the Crusty chatroom for the game, but I just had to rub in the fact that Boston beat up on here beloved Yankees

    Cubs-Red Sox World Series? Hmmmmm.......

Ah Hah, one game does not make the series. The Cubs shoulda saved a bunch of the runs for the weekend. BEWARE OF THE GOAT!

I'd expect that from a Southerner!
Cubbies will win game one in Atlanta. They need to take 2 out of three in Atlanta. I can taste the champagne already.

    Default A bizarre finish

Hey, a win is a win regardless.....

When the other teams fade toward the end of the season, naturally they get disappointed. Most of them accept it with grace and dignity.
"Some" others get jealous and try to ruin other persons post season succusses. This is normal and we look past it.....

Or is it because we kicked the Cardinals ARSE 5 out of the last 8 games played together when it counted?

Thumbs up 3 Down, 1 To Go

ANOTHER awesome display of Cubs offense, backed by the pitching mastery of Mark "The Goatee" Clement.

Could tomorrow be the clincher? Stay tuned....

Cubbies are looking unbeatable right now.
I will be in front of the TV, eating chili, drinking ice water and enjoying the game.

    Default A minor setback

Well I didn't think that they would sweep FL at home. Beckett pitched a heck of a game today, while our bats went silent and Zambrano was mostly ineffective, once again letting his emotions get the best of him.

That's ok, bring it on home for the clinching! Mark "Mr. Automatic" Prior will be on the mound on Tuesday night!

Seeing as how I'm the Southerner here, I think I resent that remark. It's that guy from Pearl City that's rooting for the fish to win, not me. Even though I don't root for the Cubbies during the year, I hope they do it Tuesday. I'll be watching and rooting right along with you Northerners ( most of you, anyway )
