Breaking News... Overpass collapse - DeSoto Co., MS (south of Memphis, TN)

A concrete overpass for Mississippi Highway 304 under construction over U.S. Highway 51 has collapsed onto the highway. Reports say a car may be trapped underneath. The project is called the "Green T" overpass and will carry Mississippi Highway 304 over Highway 51 to ease congestion due to casino traffic.

Just after 3:00 o'clock Monday, Desoto County authorities were called to a car accident at Green T Road and highway 51. "On the way we found out the bridge had collapsed and there was somebody under it, trapped." The victim, a Horn Lake man driving a red Saturn. But the car was hardly visible, crushed beneath six 80 to 90 foot beams of steel and concrete, weighing 400 pounds per foot. 20 year old Jerell Robinson was on his way to work at Domino's Pizza when he was killed instantly.
