Snorkel-brother Rob;
Thanks for checking in. Anything you repeat I said outside these forums, I'll deny emphatically. We demand a high level of docrum around here, so please be mindful of that.
Please give Gary G. a big sloppy kiss for me tonight. He thinks I hate him; I dunno why.

Atlanta? There's an Atlanta in Illinois?
I forgot to mention this - we got the new truck last night. It's ours! In our station! WOW! Like the newspaper quoted me this morning - "I think it's wonderful". I don't remember saying that but we're really excited.Last edited by jboczek; 11-26-2003 at 06:00 PM.

Yup. There's an Atlanta, Illinois. 1649 people and another 800 or 1000 in the rural.

We've got 1600 people, too, except they're scattered out through 4 towns and 100 square miles. I think it's be easier if they were all in one place.
hey, got another question. We've now got 3 pretty decent engines, a 73 w/ 500 pump, 1000 water, a 88, 750 pump, 1000 water & a 04 w/ 1250 pump & 1000 water. Our trustee president (oh, no, another trustee problem) thinks we need the 2 newer trucks at our Ashley station and the old one at the other station. I think the middle one needs to be at our 2nd station and the other 2 at the main station. Makes more sense to me. So, Dear Abby, who's right?Jack Boczek, Chief

Jack:
Your plan makes absolute sense and would be more in line with what ISO recommends.
So; you aren't going to Canada?

Jack, thats how we got our set up at the Pearl City and Kent stations only the age of the engines are a little different. 3801 is a 1980 1250 with 750 tank, 3803 is a 77/54(77 cab and chassis, 54 tank and rebuilt pump with original nozzles too)500 pump, 1000 tank. Kent has 3802, a 1978 cab and chassis and 1952 tank and rebuilt champion pump. that also has original nozzles from 52 on it.

Lotsa things....
This post probably ought to be scattered amoungst several threads, but I've got Chirstmas decorating to do, and I'm too lazy to spread it around....
hence:
Item the 1st: Jenn was on vacation? I hadn't noticed....
Item the 2nd: I hope everybody's Thanksgiving was super. Jack, sounds like you guys had a great time!
Item the third: As far as your equipment deployment goes, I would take two things into consideration. Make that three, to wit: (a) Where is your greatest concentration of fire hazard/load? (b) Where is your best water supply? (c) Where are your best drafting sites? Remember, you don't want your low-volume pumps at water sources. I hate to say it, but sometimes you're beter off sending a low-volume, high tank capacity engine first, then following up with the higher-volume pumps at the water sources (trustees hate to see those new rigs in the back row though, don't they?) Keep in mind also, that centrifugical pumps take advantage of incoming pressure and volume. So if you are using 3" hose on your 2-1/2" discharges, it is possible to turn your 750 pumpers into 1000's or even 1250's if the input and output is there. Just some more food for thought. No matter what you do, they'll be an expert from 50 miles away that will tell you there was a better way....
Lastly, has anybody heard anything about Seneca FD burning down their station? I just heard from the proprietor of the local Hardware Hank that they lost everything, and the public works garage enxt door also burned down. He has a tendancy to get things wrong, so I am now on the hunt. If I find something out, I'll start a new thread.
That is all.

It's snowing down here too. KEEP IT UP NORTH WHERE IT BELONGS. I HATE SNOW!!
But snow is second only to shopping the day after Thanksgiving. Guess where I'm going this afternoon? Just cause my wife has a day off she thinks I need to take the afternoon and go to WalMart. But then her dad is taking us to Ryan's to eat so that might be worth it. Oh my gosh, stuffed 2 days in a row.Jack Boczek, Chief
