Post Part time ems and firefighters

    Hello:

We are currently researching the idea of hiring some part-time personnel to operate our ems ambulance, these emt's paramedics will also cover the fire side when needed. We would apprciate any advice, suggestions, pros or cons concerning this matter from other departments that have instituted this type of set up or have previously investigated such endeavor.

A lot of volunteer fire depts in this area hire part-timers to run a "day crew". These guys work between normal business hours when its difficult to get volunteers to respond due to it being durin the work day.

I personally can't give any cons, the pro's obviously being you now have a day crew to take runs.
