Use of fire funds investigated

A volunteer fire chief in Roxbury has been removed from his duties overseeing Fire Company 3's budget while authorities investigate alleged misuse of company funds, officials said.
Ray Grenot Jr. is still officially chief of the Berkshire Valley company, but he no longer performs the chief's duties, said Christopher Raths, township manager.
Michael Piccitto, chief of Fire Company 2 and supervisor of all three local fire companies, is now handling Company 3's budget and other administrative functions, Raths said.
The Morris County prosecutor's office and township police are investigating, but no criminal charges have been filed, police Capt. David Kennedy said.
Authorities would not describe the details of the allegations.
Grenot has been chief for 10 months, and he has served in the department for seven years, since he was 17, Raths said. His father Ray Grenot Sr. also served as the company's chief.
Officials also made a policy change at Fire Company 1 in Succasunna.
The township provides a $4,000 annual gas stipend, but the company was using township gas pumps to fuel Chief John Hayowyk's company vehicle until about six weeks ago, Raths said.
"When it was brought to his attention, to his credit, Chief Hayowyk immediately stopped using the pumps," Raths said.

I hear ya. The minimum age should be 25!
It did say that daddy had been a fire chief. They may have had something to do with junior getting it. Or should I say "inheriting" it?
